How to make it.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Peel and remove almost all of the papery skin from the head of garlic. Cut off ½ inch from the tip, drizzle with oil, sprinkle with salt, and place a sprig of thyme on top. Wrap in foil and roast in the oven for 20 minutes.

Slice off the top of the bread and hollow out the inside, leaving about half an inch at the bottom and sides.

In a blender, combine softened butter, chives, parsley, jalapeño, and the roasted garlic squeezed from its skins. Season with salt and pepper and blend until smooth.

Quickly fry the sliced steak for about 30 seconds on each side in a hot pan, seasoning with salt and pepper.

Brush the inside of the bread with green butter. Layer the fried steak inside and top with slices of Provolone cheese.

Return the bread boat to the oven and bake until the cheese is golden and bubbly, about 10 minutes.

Garnish with additional fresh herbs. Allow to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
